The North East Scotland Fisheries Local Action Group (NESFLAG) has awarded grants to four new projects in Aberdeenshire.

The FLAG approved the applications, worth a total of £162,189, in Round 5 of the programme.

The successful projects in this round include

  • A new pontoon facility at Sandhaven & Pitullie Harbour delivering improved facilities for inshore fishing and leisure craft.
  • Purchase of an innovative blasting system for a Peterhead-based ship painting business which will offer significant benefits to the trawler fleet
  • The fitting-out costs of a new speciality fish restaurant in Fraserburgh which will serve locally sourced seasonal seafood
  • The establishment of a dedicated training centre for new recruits into the seafood processing sector

The programme, which launched in March 2016, has a total budget of £1.43million of which more than £300,000 is now committed.  All funding must be committed by December 2018.
