Applications & Claims


To be eligible for support from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund through the North East Scotland Fisheries Local Action Group (NESFLAG), your project must contribute to one or more of the activities and targets set out in the Local Development Strategy for your area (Angus, North Aberdeenshire or South Aberdeenshire), which can be downloaded from the Library section of this site.


The eligible priorities for North Aberdeenshire and South Aberdeenshire are:


  • adding value and promoting innovation at all stages of the fisheries and seafood supply chain
  • creating jobs, attracting young people, encouraging lifelong learning and facilitating training in fisheries areas
  • supporting diversification inside or outside commercial fisheries
  • enhancing and capitalising on the environmental assets of the fisheries areas
  • promoting social well-being, cultural heritage and community development in fisheries areas


The eligible priorities for Angus are:


  • Adding value, creating jobs, and promoting innovation at all stages of the fisheries and aquaculture seafood supply chain
  • Supporting diversification within the fisheries and aquaculture sectors
  • Supporting lifelong learning and job creation in fisheries areas



The first stage in the application process is to submit an expression of interest form to the NESFLAG Co-ordinator at




When your form has been received, you will be contacted by the NESFLAG Co-ordinator.

Once your project has been checked for eligibility by the NESFLAG Co-ordinator, you can move on to the application stage.  Formal applications are submitted through the UK Marine Management Organisation site.  To make an application please click below:

Payments to approved projects are made in arrears after expenditure has been incurred and milestones achieved.  Claims are also made through the UK Government system and processed by Marine Scotland.
